RARE 1989 NORTON COMMANDER ROTARY P53 FOR SALE $16,999. plus gst.

The 1989 Norton Commander P53 is an Ultra -Rare twin-rotor Wankel rotary-powered civilian touring motorcycle, known for its turbine-like smoothness, quiet operation and unique blend of British engineering and Japanese parts. This “Matching Numbers” bike is 1 of 253 made, the engine is a 588cc twin rotor liquid cooled Wankel rotary. The bike shared components such as forks, wheels, brakes and switchgear sourced from the Yamaha XJ900 and paired with a Triumph transmission. The bike is virtually vibration free with turbine- like power delivery. It has a full touring fairing and integrated (non-removable) side panniers. This bike is a rare cult classic representing late era British rotary innovation. The Commander was offered in two variants, the P52 was for police and the P53 was for civilians. You would expect that the police version would be the rarer of the two, but such is not the case, the civilian is more desirable. This bike is ready to ride, we rebuilt the carbs, replaced steering bearings and fork seals, all fluids are new. The bike was purchased in B.C. and will come with an Alberta Out of Province Inspection. This is an opportunity to own a very unique rare example of British engineering of an iconic motorcycle manufacturer that will only appreciate in value , previously sold P53’s have fetched in excess of $17,000 . U.S.D.
