PHIL'S 1980 BMW R100RS AIR HEAD
This 1980 BMW R100RS is a mile eater with a ludicrously comfortable seat , came with a fairing that makes for long distance high speed journeys a pleasure.
It’s not a machine you can instantly bond with , that relationship takes time to mature , but if you’re looking to escape the urban sprawl of the city and head to the mountains and beyond, these air heads love to stretch their legs.
It’s a 4 stroke , 2 cylinder horizontally opposed boxer engine, shaft drive,5 speed with fuel capacity of 24 liters.
The fairing was removed and a set of more upright handlebars were exchanged to give Phil a more relaxed riding position to allow for a comfortable longer distance ride.
Interestingly, Phil started out as a certified BMW mechanic working for the Essex Police Department in the UK working on most BMW models up to 1987, so it’s only fitting that he acquired this 1980 R100RS to whip out to the mountains and visit family this summer when the urge strikes.
